🌴 Explore stunning beaches, iconic landmarks, and lush landscapes you’ll never forget.

Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Brazil, a nation deeply influenced by its African heritage. Over nearly three centuries, Brazil received the largest number of enslaved Africans in the Americas, shaping its unique cultural identity.

Rio de Janeiro

Brazil’s history and culture are as diverse as the country’s landscape – from the lush, thick rainforests of the Amazon jungle to the majestic Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro to Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer’s man-made wonders in Brasilia to the sparkling white sandy beaches in Floripa. But it’s really the multiethnic people and the melting pot of cultures that set Brazil apart from other popular travel destinations.

Salvador de Bahia

Salvador de Bahia, Brazil’s third-largest city, is no exception to that rule. It’s palpable when you step off the airplane and enter the city limits… this metropolitan hub clearly celebrates its rich Afro-Brazilian history and culture. During Brazil’s slave trade from 1501 to 1866, Angolans became part of the country’s history and multicultural tapestry by diversifying Brazil’s indigenous and Portuguese traditions.

Salvador has approximately 2.71 million inhabitants. The city has beaches that you can enjoy all year round, spicy food that is still called by its African names (Carurú, Vatapá, Acarajé, etc.). Salvador is the city of the ceremonies of the Candomblé (Yoruban) religion which combines African and Catholic (syncretic) symbolism. In Salvador, you will meet and see people of all ages practicing Capoeira and dancing to Axé music. All this, plus the exotic people known for their love, affection and dance, make Salvador this very special place.

Is this trip for you?

This immersive experience in Salvador, Bahia is ideal for travelers who:

  • Crave cultural immersion: Delve into the rich tapestry of African influences that shaped Bahian culture and history.
  • Are passionate about history: Explore significant sites related to the transatlantic slave trade and its lasting legacy.
  • Love to explore vibrant cities: Prepare to be captivated by Salvador on foot! We'll wander through the historic Pelourinho district, bustling local markets, and lively Barra neighborhood, soaking up the city's energy with each step.
  • Enjoy delicious cuisine: Savor the unique flavors of Bahian cuisine, a delightful blend of African, Portuguese, and indigenous traditions.
  • Seek authentic connections: Connect with the warmth and hospitality of the Bahian people and gain a deeper understanding of their culture.
  • Embrace comfortable walking: As we explore Salvador's vibrant streets and hidden gems, be prepared for moderate to extensive walking throughout the trip. Comfortable shoes are a must!

If you're looking for an unforgettable journey that goes beyond the typical tourist experience and embraces the city on foot, this Afro-Brazilian Adventure is for you!
